Learn the correct umbrella
Vernal Umbrella is available through the early weapon selection or its exploration quest at the Temporal Pavilion in Kaifeng. Speak to Wang Ping’an by the tower, then reach Jiang Ting’er at the pavilion entrance. She requires a keepsake.
- Gather the warehouse hint, inspect the tabby cat behind the pavilion, observe the chess players by the river-facing window, and overhear both pairs of women inside and upstairs. Check that each observation registers before leaving.
- Complete the deduction, obtain the Warehouse Key from the indicated NPC, open the warehouse and collect the Bramble Rose Hairpin.
- Return to Jiang Ting’er with the keepsake. At the banquet entrance, choose “The Wind arrives.”
- Observe the umbrella master with Skill Theft, then return to Wang Ping’an to finish the quest.
This is the Vernal Umbrella exploration quest. Petalfall Banquet at Jinming Pool is a separate campaign. After learning the art, equip it in Martial Arts and check for Spring Sorrow and Unfading Flower.
Build Blossom before deployment
Blossom powers the hovering offensive umbrella. Spring Away, the charged light-attack action, is one way to build the resource through hits. Unfading Flower deploys the umbrella and consumes Blossom while it attacks; the hidden-sword state lets you continue acting or switch weapons.
A resource loop requires targets. Beginning the deployment while the enemy is leaving or becoming untargetable can spend the window without the damage you expected. Watch both Blossom and the target, not just whether the skill icon is available.
Understand the control limits
Spring Sorrow can immobilise ordinary targets; do not expect every boss to stop moving. The later projectile interaction also recognises your Lingering Bone condition rather than requiring every target to be visibly airborne. That makes Inkwell Fan's setup worth learning alongside the umbrella.
Blossom Barrage modifies the Spring Sorrow interaction. Check whether you have the passive equipped before expecting its extra charges or associated benefit. The base weapon and a fully upgraded passive demonstration are different starting points.
Practise a short resource cycle
- Hit a reachable target with the umbrella and watch Blossom increase.
- Deploy Unfading Flower when the target will remain available.
- Swap to your partner weapon and confirm the umbrella is still contributing.
- Return and practise a deliberate recall so you recognise its input.
- Rebuild rather than repeatedly pressing deployment with insufficient resource.
This is a learning routine, not a universal damage rotation. Add the fan's mark and pursuit only after the deployment is reliable. If you introduce every action at once, an accidental recall can look like an unexplained resource or cooldown bug.
Use movement without losing the target
The umbrella has aerial and varied attack options, but being airborne does not remove encounter hazards. Track your landing position and the next enemy attack. On a small platform, a shorter grounded sequence may be more dependable than a long movement chain.
Likewise, a ranged kit still has effective distances. If the hovering umbrella is not contributing, check where the target is relative to you before changing damage stats. Avoid chasing maximum distance simply because the weapon is described as ranged.
