The quick answer

Mortal Rope Dart combines Bladebound Thread’s target mark with Rodent Rampage and a charged stance. Complete its Kaifeng acquisition quest, then practise the setup before swapping to Infernal Twinblades.

Complete the Kaifeng learning quest

In Kaifeng, approach the Nine Mortal Ways Martial Hall and speak to the Mysterious Elder opposite its gate after the guard refuses entry. Draw a portrait of the nearby disciple Muddle. If disguises are still locked, complete Wuyan’s Veil of Love introduction first.

  1. Ask Wuyan to disguise you as Muddle and enter through the hall’s main gate.
  2. Speak to Pan Shui at the inner entrance, then find Tiancai in the kitchen on the courtyard’s right.
  3. Inspect Tiancai with Wind Sense and request the Core Disciple’s Token.
  4. Return to Pan Shui, enter the inner yard and speak to Elder Tian.
  5. Complete Skill Theft on the indicated rope-dart demonstration, then meet the Mysterious Elder through the side door to finish the infiltration.

Do not confuse the Core Disciple’s Token used for entry with Token of Gratitude, the combat resource below. After observation, confirm Mortal Rope Dart appears in your learned Martial Arts before leaving.

Understand the two different tokens

Bladebound Thread grapples the target. Against a boss, it pulls you toward the boss; against ordinary enemies, it can pull them toward you. Its follow-up and Vendetta mark support the rodent interaction. Token of Gratitude is the combat resource used by the rodent skill, not the same thing as the target's Vendetta mark.

This distinction matters when something is unavailable. A marked enemy does not mean every resource requirement is satisfied. Look separately at your resource, the enemy's state and the skill's remaining duration.

Prepare Rodent Rampage before swapping

Rodent Rampage supports light attacks and persists through a weapon switch. Rodent's Resilience is the charged stance whose early threshold enhances the summon; holding longer changes its utility. Begin with that short setup before trying to remain in the stance through an unsafe enemy attack.

Our learning routine is to establish the charged-stance enhancement, use Rodent Rampage, then perform a few light attacks while watching the effect. Repeat after switching to Infernal Twinblades. This makes the cross-weapon contribution visible without claiming a fixed best rotation.

Grapple with the landing position in mind

The boss interaction is especially important: you move toward the enemy. Do not cast into a dangerous ground effect simply because you want to refresh the mark. Wait for a safe approach or choose a different action until the hazard ends.

Against ordinary enemies, pulling one target can help you fight in a safer space. Check what else stands behind it; bringing a target close also brings its next attack close. The weapon's mobility is useful only when you know where the movement ends.

Mortal is not Unfettered

The two styles share a weapon family but not the same combat plan. If you are following instructions about rodents and cannot find those skills, confirm Mortal Rope Dart is active. Do not spend upgrades trying to repair what is actually a style-selection mismatch.

Once the summon-and-swap loop is reliable, add more of the weapon's own attacks. Keep the same test encounter while learning so you can tell whether an improvement came from execution, equipment or simply a more favourable enemy pattern.
