Finish the quest after the boss
- Progress Chapter 1: Heaven Has No Pier until For Whom Does He Return.
- Complete the Qianye encounter and continue the remaining story objectives.
- Finish the quest and inspect its rewards and your bag for the tome.
- Learn Echoes of Oblivion in Inner Ways and place it in an active slot.
The reward belongs to quest completion. If Qianye is defeated but the Inner Way is missing, check for unfinished follow-up objectives before searching shops or repeating a boss challenge.
Use both Twinblades attack states

Older English descriptions use names such as Evil Form and Bitter Fruit for these states. Match the normal-versus-Flamelash condition instead of treating every translation as an additional debuff you must unlock.
The July update strengthened the triggered effects’ Physical Defense and Bamboocut Resistance bypass.
Our suggested practice is to use a durable target and watch the debuff icons while changing attack state. If you only attack briefly before switching targets, you may never establish the paired condition that makes the Inner Way useful.
Do not expect every Samsara effect immediately
Breakthroughs add further Samsara, Perfect Dodge and attack-chain interactions. Those are tier rewards, not all part of the base story unlock. Read the currently learned tier before copying a sequence that assumes an upgraded state.
Use the Notes and materials shown in the breakthrough screen for later development. Your first tome and upgrade Notes have different jobs. If the effect is absent, also check that the current saved loadout actually contains the Inner Way and Infernal Twinblades.
