The quick answer
Open Bag and check both the main category and its sub-tab. Equipment, usable reward chests, development materials, quest items and currencies have different homes. Inspect an item before using it; a chest in your inventory is not the same as the equipment or materials inside it.

Find an item without searching every icon
| You are looking for… | Start here |
|---|---|
| Weapons and armour | Bag → Develop → Gear |
| Medicine and equipped utility items | Bag → Develop → Quick Use |
| Reward chests and ordinary supplies | Bag → Item → Common |
| Development materials | Bag → Item → Develop |
| Event supplies | Bag → Item → Event Item |
| An object belonging to a quest | Bag → Quest |
| Your currencies | Bag → Money Bag |
The two uses of Develop are easy to confuse: one is a main inventory category, while the other is a sub-tab under Item. Look at both selected rows. If you have just received something, use its full name from the reward notification rather than identifying it only by the colour of its icon.
Quest items are objects you own. The main-menu Quest screen is where you read and track objectives. If you have a letter in the Bag but do not know where to take it, read the item and then check the associated objective. Do not expect the inventory category to replace the quest log.
Read an item in a useful order
- Check the full name and item type. Two matching pictures can represent different tiers or uses.
- Read what happens when you use it: direct reward, selection, random roll, learning action or temporary effect.
- Check the eligible tier, named system and any expiry.
- If you need more, inspect How to Obtain and choose a route you can currently access.
- Use only the quantity needed for your next planned action.
For example, an Inner Way learning item and a Tip for developing an already learned Inner Way solve different problems. An upgrade material cannot be assumed to unlock the underlying ability. If the missing-material name on the upgrade screen does not match the item in your bag, stop before spending it.
Open a reward chest and finish the job
- Select the chest and inspect its contents before choosing Use.
- If it offers a choice, identify exactly which part is selectable: material, set, equipment slot or another property.
- Check the tier and choose one item or a small quantity while learning.
- Complete the selection and look at the actual reward received.
- For equipment, open Gear, compare the new piece and equip it if it helps. For a material, return to the upgrade screen and check the missing quantity.
Here is a hypothetical material example: an upgrade needs eight units and you already own six. A selectable box that awards one unit can cover the shortfall with two boxes. Opening ten because the button permits it commits eight unnecessary choices. The example explains the decision; box quantities in the game depend on the item.
Put the useful item on the correct shortcut
In Quick Use, inspect the Medicine, Divinecraft and Special Item slots. Choose the item you mean to carry, then check its name and quantity on the active shortcut. Owning a consumable is different from selecting it for quick use.
Before a boss, distinguish healing charges you can carry from reserve stock. Before fishing, inspect the tool rather than opening the combat skill menu. Before using Divinecraft, remember that you are handling a consumable tool; its quantity and conditions matter.
Craft one item from beginning to end
Use the Craft action from Bag and select the relevant recipe category. Medicine has a Brew Medicine branch. Recipes can have an unlock requirement as well as an ingredient cost; having the ingredients does not make an unlearned recipe available.
- Choose an item you have a reason to use, such as a needed supply for your next outing.
- Read the recipe output and total cost for the selected quantity.
- Check every missing ingredient and any Stamina requirement separately.
- Make a small batch, then inspect the resulting item in the Bag.
- Equip or use it where appropriate; return to the blocked interaction to confirm it solves the problem.
If the craft button is unavailable, the useful question is which line fails. A recipe unlock, missing herb and depleted crafting resource require different solutions. More character EXP does not substitute for a missing ingredient.
Protect useful items before recycling
Select a piece you want to keep and use its padlock toggle. Check for the lock marker on the item afterward. This protects it from disposal operations such as recycling; it is not an equipment upgrade.
Before a bulk clear, protect alternate set pieces, items used by saved plans and anything awaiting an Arsenal comparison. A piece with a smaller score may still complete a useful set. Review the recycling selection itself even after applying locks.
If an item is skipped by a disposal action, inspect its lock and the action’s eligibility rules. Remove protection only after deciding it is surplus. Unlocking an item does not dispose of it automatically; the later confirmation is a separate action.
Make room or expand the Gear inventory
Sort changes the order of items. To free space, remove confirmed surplus through the appropriate disposal action. To expand Gear storage, scroll to its locked slots, select one and inspect the Coin price before confirming. This is different from the padlock protecting an individual item.
Choose expansion when the pieces you are keeping have a purpose and the price fits your upgrade budget. Otherwise, extra rows can postpone the same sorting problem. Do not apply a Gear-storage fix blindly to a different full inventory category.
| Problem | Check next |
|---|---|
| Bought a chest but cannot equip the reward | Has the chest been opened and its selection completed? |
| Material still appears missing | Exact name, tier, quantity and unopened boxes. |
| Cannot recycle a spare piece | Item lock and recycle eligibility. |
| Sort did not make room | Sort changes arrangement, not capacity. |
| A quest item has no ordinary use button | The quest objective and interaction it belongs to. |

Common questions
Does opening an equipment chest equip the item?
No. Inspect the reward in Gear and choose whether to equip it after comparing the piece.
Why are there two Develop labels in Bag?
The main Develop category covers equipment and Quick Use. Item → Develop is a sub-tab for development materials.
Should I open every selection chest immediately?
Choose the upgrade or item you need first. Check the exact contents and open enough to cover that need, particularly when the selection cannot be changed afterward.
