The quick answer
After Chapter 1, investigate Yi Dao’s sword at ruined Blissful Retreat to enter Dream in Flames. In the duel, distinguish delayed sword strings from the gold flurry’s red finishing dash.

Enter Dreamscape: Blissful Retreat
Complete Chapter 1, then return to the burned Blissful Retreat area in Moonveil Mountain. Look for Yi Dao’s sword near the tree by the ruined building and interact with it to begin Dream in Flames.
Follow the dreamscape route to the duel. If the expected sword interaction is absent, check the chapter’s completion and your current quest state before looking for an ordinary roaming boss. The dream encounter and the companion with the same name are different uses of Yi Dao.
Learn the delayed final hit
Yi Dao has compact, fast sword animations. Several sequences end with a hit that arrives later than the preceding strikes. Do not turn two successful deflections into an automatic third press at the same interval.
Watch the raised blade and the eventual release. A short pause is often the point where attacking early gets punished. Begin with one short attack after a confirmed ending and add more only when the recovery is familiar.
Change defence inside the same sequence
The gold flurry followed by a red dash is the key distinction. Evade the gold portion, then recognise the red finishing commitment as a separate event. Holding the same defensive response for the entire animation chain misses that change.
| Tell | Response to learn |
|---|---|
| Gold sword flurry | Leave its reach rather than trying to deflect gold |
| Red finishing dash | Time the separate finishing attack |
| Several waves with a delayed last wave | Continue watching after the quick opening pair |
| Sword planted for shadow attacks | Account for the continuing sequence before approaching |
Use a prompted interruption deliberately
Celestial Seize can provide an interruption opportunity during specific sword commitments. Watch for the applicable prompt rather than casting it randomly and assuming every move can be disarmed.
If the opportunity is unavailable, use distance and normal defence for that sequence. An optional interrupt should improve a plan that still works when the skill is unavailable, not become the only reason you can survive the attack.
Keep practice measurable
For one attempt, focus only on recognising the gold-to-red change. For the next, focus on the delayed final sword hit. This proposed routine gives each defeat a clear question to answer and avoids changing your entire build without knowing why the previous attempt failed.
Heal during a known recovery instead of after every small hit. If you use an available companion, keep watching Yi Dao: a change of target can alter where an attack travels, but it does not make every long combo safe.
Claim Breaking Point
The first-clear reward includes Breaking Point. Collect it and Comprehend the Inner Way if you want its exhausted-target interaction. Judge that passive against your own weapon loop after the fight; it is a reward, not a requirement for winning this duel.
