Coffin Master: revival, sword rhythm and second-phase coffin attacks

Prepare for Coffin Master’s revival and the second phase’s sword, coffin and Qi-recovery mechanics.

The quick answer

Coffin Master is at Mercyheart Monastery. Expect a revival after the first defeat, then manage mixed sword and coffin attacks while the boss recovers Qi. The first victory message is not the end.

Locate the encounter

Travel to Mercyheart Monastery in Qinghe’s Sundara Lands and find the world-boss encounter. The monastery also contains exploration and outpost activity, so distinguish the boss from an unrelated local objective.

Prepare for two stages rather than spending every recovery option on the first bar. A slow-moving target can still have fast attacks, especially when a long animation ends in a sudden sword motion.

Watch the sword arm

The first phase centres on the sword arm’s sweeps, lunges and slams. Follow the arm through the wind-up and respond to its release. Fixed-interval deflection mashing is a poor fit for delayed swings.

The extended Sword Charge sequence contains uneven gaps. If you are learning it, focus on recognising the pauses before trying to defend the whole sequence perfectly. Leave space to recover from a missed timing instead of standing in range with an empty defensive resource.

Stay ready after the apparent victory

The first depleted health bar and victory message precede a revival. Keep control of your character and watch for the resumed encounter. Do not open menus or assume it is safe to stop paying attention.

This is also why an attempt that reaches the first defeat with no healing can still be far from completion. Plan the initial phase around repeatable defence rather than a one-bar damage race.

Read the coffin and sword separately

The later phase brings active coffin slams alongside the sword. The two objects do not share the same tempo. A slow coffin impact can be followed by a quick sword sequence, so follow the visible action rather than carrying one rhythm through the whole combo.

The boss also regenerates Qi. Useful defensive pressure and attacks during genuine openings matter more than long periods of completely disengaged waiting. That does not mean attacking through a gold move: evade the unblockable commitment, then return when it has resolved.

Identify the cause of each failed attempt

What happenedWhat to practise
Early deflect misses a delayed swingWait for the sword arm’s release
Rapid inputs fail the long comboLearn its pauses as well as its fast hits
Caught after the first defeatTreat revival as part of the encounter
Coffin defence followed by a sword hitTrack the change of weapon and tempo
Qi progress disappears while retreatingRe-engage safely instead of waiting indefinitely

Separate a clear from mastery challenges

First aim to finish both stages with a dependable plan. Then pursue achievements tied to defending particular long sequences. Trying to perfect every named combo while still learning the revival can turn one manageable problem into several simultaneous ones.
