The quick answer

Find Snake Doctor through the cave near Encircling Lake. Stay out of poison pockets, use short melee openings, dodge the gold snake attack and claim Star Reacher after the first clear.

Reach the cave rather than searching the lake surface

From the Encircling Lake Boundary Stone, search northwest toward the camp and rock wall for the cave entrance. The passage contains snakes before the arena. Snake King’s Bone is part of an optional preparation route that makes the approach easier; the arena fight is a separate encounter.

If traversal repeatedly drains your healing, resolve the cave preparation or pass the hazards carefully before starting another boss attempt. Arriving with fewer supplies makes it difficult to tell whether the fight or the approach is causing the failure.

Keep a useful distance

Snake Doctor combines staff attacks with poison projectiles. At close range, the visible staff wind-ups give you something concrete to learn. Retreating into the middle distance can put you among poison pockets and projectile pressure.

Close does not mean continuously attacking. Follow a short punish with a defensive reset. When he retreats, re-establish position without chasing into a full committed combo.

Recognise the main threats

TellResponse to practise
Staff overhead or sweepWatch the weapon’s release rather than reacting to the first wind-up
Smoke pocketsMove to clean ground while keeping the boss visible
Backward movement into dartsStop the chase and account for the projectile spread
Gold snake throwDodge the released attack; do not try to deflect gold

The smoke also makes the next attack harder to see. Moving a small distance into a clear view can be worth more than adding one extra hit while the boss is obscured.

Manage poison without gambling the run

Watch your health after an exchange, not only at the moment of impact. A continuing drain can turn a seemingly comfortable health bar into a failed attempt while you wait for another opening.

An editorial recovery plan is to pick a safe post-combo window for healing before you need it. Do not wait until a projectile forces an emergency heal during another attack. Bringing a healing weapon is optional; use one only if you understand its targeting and resource use.

Learn one failure at a time

For the next attempt, choose the attack that most often hits you and prioritise recognising it. Once that is consistent, add one short punish. This gives a clearer improvement than changing every passive and weapon after each defeat.

After victory, collect the first-clear reward and Comprehend Star Reacher if it is your goal. Check the learned passive before leaving the area.
