Tai Chi: learn the skill and aim throws at rocks and enemies

Learn Tai Chi from the early bear encounter, aim its throw and troubleshoot failed casts or unbroken rock piles.

The quick answer

Follow the early Wayfarer’s lead to the bear near the beehive and complete the observation prompts to learn Tai Chi. Equip it, cast on a valid nearby target and aim the camera toward the landing point during the throw. Use the bear to break the nearby marked rock pile.

Learn from the bear during early exploration

During the opening Qinghe route with Ruby, speak to the Wayfarer near the campfire and map-reveal point. Follow his lead to the nearby bear at the honey or beehive location. Approach the learning event and respond to the golden observation-ring prompts.

After the learning sequence, open your Mystic Skills and equip Tai Chi. Keep it available for the immediate environmental lesson. It is easy to complete the observation and then wonder why the throw action is missing when the skill has not been assigned.

Cast at a valid target and direct the throw

  1. Choose a nearby ordinary target that can be affected by the skill.
  2. Move into a comfortable close range with a clear line of approach.
  3. Activate Tai Chi using the input shown for its equipped slot.
  4. During the pulling and spinning animation, turn the camera toward the intended landing point.
  5. Watch where the target lands before attempting another cast.

Practise direction before trying to throw into a narrow opening. A wide, clear landing area makes it easier to tell whether your timing or camera angle is causing the miss.

Break the bear encounter’s rock pile

Locate the breakable pile near the bear before starting the throw. Position yourself so the bear and the pile are in a useful line, then direct the throw into the rocks. The goal is the impact at the obstruction, not merely using Tai Chi somewhere during the fight.

If the bear lands beside the pile, change your position and camera angle. If you are facing a solid cliff rather than the encounter’s destructible rubble, repeating the cast will not create a new entrance. Inspect the actual object the puzzle is drawing attention to.

Recognise other Tai Chi interactions

Tai Chi can help control suitable shield-bearing enemies and appears in environmental interactions, including certain leaf puzzles. These uses depend on a valid target and the specific encounter. It is not a general command to move any object in the world.

When a quest explicitly asks for Tai Chi, equip it before experimenting with other attacks. Read whether the objective asks you to clear something, redirect something or hit a specific destination. The same cast can serve different purposes depending on what you aim it at.

Change one condition at a time. Testing another ordinary target is a useful way to distinguish an immune enemy from an input or equipment problem. Buying an upgrade is not the first fix for a cast that never acquires its target.

Common questions

Does Tai Chi throw bosses?

Do not rely on it. Bosses and Mighty enemies can be immune to the throw effect.

Why did the nearby rocks survive?

The thrown target must hit the correct breakable pile. Check the camera direction and distinguish destructible rubble from normal terrain.
