Follow the voice below the peak
Speak to the Moonveil Mountain Wayfarer and track Cries in the Distance in Exploration’s Jianghu Legacy list. Follow the voice marker down the mountainside to the cave beneath the large tree rather than continuing toward the summit.
Inside the circular chamber, look behind the pillar on the right side of the candles for Brother Feng. Speak to him and inspect the nearby quiver for Fire Arrows.
Burn the roots and activate the ring
Across the chamber from Feng, use a Fire Arrow on the root-covered opening. Enter the revealed passage and stand on its glowing ring. This activates the mechanism that frees him.
Return to Feng and continue the conversation before working on the larger formation. The first ring frees the NPC; it does not finish the central pillar puzzle.
Understand what the dial changes
The central Yin Yang dial controls which pair of pillars moves together. The goal is one opposite pair facing inward and the other pair facing outward. Randomly turning every pillar makes it harder to track which pair is currently bound.
- Activate the central mechanism.
- Turn Heaven and Earth so they face each other across the centre.
- Rotate the central dial until its two binding circles align with that completed pair.
- Turn Water and Fire independently so they face away from each other.
- Check that the centre retracts and opens the shaft.
If Water and Fire still turn together, the binding has not been moved to the completed pair. Correct the dial first; more rotations of the same linked pillar will not fix the underlying problem.
Search the lower study
Descend through the opened shaft and inspect the bookshelves, letters, scattered texts and Strange Stone Ring. Follow Feng to the wall between the lanterns and use the revealed exit interaction.
If he does not advance, recheck the uninspected objects in this room. A visible passage can remain inactive until the investigation has registered, so confirm the objective before searching the earlier formation again.
Use the bear to break the environment
The Thick-Skinned Albino encounter tests Tai Chi redirection. Line up the bear with a remaining rock pile, use the skill’s capture opportunity and aim the throw into the pile. Repeat for the piles around the arena.
The observable success is a broken pile, not simply a damaged bear. If a throw misses, reposition so the pile is clearly in the throw direction before trying again. Keep enough room to see the bear’s approach and heal between attempts when necessary.
Finish the last chest and conversation
After all three environmental targets are resolved, collect the available treasure and speak to Brother Feng again. Do not leave after the bear alone if the journal still asks for a conversation. The puzzle, combat lesson and final dialogue each advance a separate stage.
