Wind Beneath Wings: both unlocks and Skywalk Dash support

Complete Echoes of Old Battles and Tiger Fort to learn Wind Beneath Wings, then understand its movement and on-kill recovery effects.

The quick answer

Wind Beneath Wings needs both Echoes of Old Battles and Tiger Fort’s first clear. The quest supplies 40% comprehension and the outpost supplies the remaining 60%; either activity alone leaves the unlock incomplete.

Collect the quest pages and outpost pages

  1. Track Qinghe’s Jianghu Legacy, Echoes of Old Battles. Its opening lead is the eavesdropper at Battlecrest Slope, leading into Northern Vow Ruins.
  2. Complete the underground quest, including the final treasure and wall-text interaction, for its four pages. The Touch of Death walkthrough covers the same ruin route.
  3. Visit Tiger Fort Outpost in Twinbeast Ridge. Clear its guards, defeat Zhang Hu and collect the first-clear reward.
  4. Return to Inner Ways, complete comprehension and equip Wind Beneath Wings if it suits the activity ahead.

When the bar stops at 40% or 60%, use that number to identify the missing half. Repeating a completed first-clear activity is less useful than checking the other source.

What the passive actually supports

Its movement interaction concerns Skywalk Dash while jumping: reduced Endurance cost, followed by a brief movement benefit after landing. It also provides HP recovery after defeating enemies.

This does not unlock a region’s flying permissions or teach a new Lightness Skill. Those unlocks remain separate. Nor is recovery after a kill equivalent to continuous healing during a single surviving boss encounter.

Use it for the activity you are doing

ActivityHow to assess the slot
Moving between ordinary enemy groupsMovement convenience and post-kill recovery can support the route.
Learning a difficult bossConsider whether the on-kill condition will help before the fight is already over.
Trying to unlock regional flightFollow the region’s exploration and movement requirements instead.

Our recommendation is to keep travel convenience separate from a damage comparison. A passive can feel helpful while exploring without being the best use of a slot in every combat activity.

If movement or recovery looks unchanged

  • Make sure the Inner Way is equipped, not merely comprehended.
  • Use Skywalk Dash’s specified jumping action rather than an unrelated movement skill.
  • For the recovery effect, distinguish damaging an enemy from actually defeating it.
  • Read the current tier for exact costs and recovery values.
