The quick answer
Nameless Sword is a starting Martial Art. Learn its Daunting Strike follow-ups, create a safe charged-attack window and match Sword Morph to the tier you actually own.

Start with the correct sword style
Nameless Sword belongs to Bellstrike Splendor. A sword in your equipment slot does not tell you which sword Martial Art is active: check the name in Develop before practising. Strategic Sword uses the same broad weapon type but a different Bleed-focused kit. Mixing their skill instructions is a common reason a supposed combo never appears.
There is no sanctum unlock to chase for this starting style. Begin by reading its unlocked skills, then distinguish a tap of Heavy Attack from holding the Charged Skill. Buying another sword will not substitute for an unavailable talent or an unequipped Inner Way.
Understand the attack sequence
Daunting Strike sends out a sword and carries you forward. Its successive Relentless Chase inputs matter: completing the follow-ups produces the Qi shield used by the basic Sword Morph interaction. Vagrant Sword is the charged Sword Energy attack. These are separate jobs: approach and establish the condition, then spend the opening on the charge.
Sword Morph is not identical at every breakthrough. Later effects add ways to enable multiple Sword Energies. Follow your active tier and its status indicator rather than copying a fully upgraded player's opener. The dedicated passive guide explains how to obtain it.
A practice routine that shows what went wrong
This is a suggested learning drill, not a measured maximum-damage rotation. Use a familiar enemy whose attacks you can recognise, and change only one part of the sequence at a time.
- Use Daunting Strike and deliberately complete its follow-up presses. Watch for the shield instead of assuming the opening hit supplied it.
- Make space without losing sight of the enemy. Start Vagrant Sword only when the next enemy attack will not force an immediate dodge.
- Release the intended charge stage and watch the number of Sword Energy waves. If it is wrong, inspect the enabling condition and Sword Morph tier before changing your gear.
- Stop attacking briefly to inspect Endurance. Repeat with Nameless Spear support and compare whether you can defend after the charge.
Treat a missed wave and an interrupted charge as different problems. The first suggests your setup or timing; the second suggests you chose an unsafe opening. More attack power does not repair either mistake.
What the September correction changes
The September 16 patch corrected the Sword Energy Damage Boost description: each stack gives 10% Damage Boost against non-player units without requiring Exhausted. This was a description correction, not a new damage buff. Do not postpone every Sword Energy attack until a boss is Exhausted on the basis of the older wording.
Pairing and troubleshooting
Nameless Spear is the natural starting partner and supplies Endurance support through Qiankun's Lock. Learn that support before trying a hybrid whose two weapons compete for the same resources. Pairing advice does not mean every spear action must be used whenever it is available.
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| Only the opening dash | Complete Daunting Strike's follow-up sequence |
| Ordinary charged attack | Check Sword Morph, its tier and the active enabling effect |
| Charge interrupted | Choose a safer window; do not confuse a shield with permanent invulnerability |
| No defensive action left | Review Endurance use before adding another charged attack |
Once the sequence is repeatable, improve gear and passive tiers. Keep the same encounter for comparisons; different enemy defences and fight lengths make isolated damage numbers misleading.
