The quick answer
Nameless Spear is available at the start. Use Qiankun’s Lock for resource support, connect Legion Crusher before Storm Dance, and distinguish boss Qi Imbalance from normal-enemy immobilisation.

Learn why the starting spear stays useful
Nameless Spear is a Bellstrike Splendor Martial Art, not an inferior version of a later spear simply because it is unlocked early. Its value includes resource support and a charged sequence. Open its skill list in Develop and practise with its own named actions; Heavenquaker Spear and Stormbreaker Spear use different loops.
Equip an appropriate spear as well as the Martial Art. If you are holding a spear but see Sober Sorrow or Storm Roar, you are reading the wrong style for this guide. Keep the weapon menu visible until you can identify Qiankun's Lock, Legion Crusher and Storm Dance.
Three actions with different purposes
Qiankun's Lock provides Endurance recovery and a temporary consumption reduction. Legion Crusher is a forward thrust whose successful hit establishes Unrivaled. Storm Dance is the sustained spinning charge; Unrivaled lets it reach its faster phase sooner. A missed thrust therefore matters even when its damage seems unimportant.
The May 28 adjustment made Qiankun's Lock apply Qi Imbalance to bosses and immobilisation to non-boss targets. A boss continuing to move does not by itself mean the skill failed.
Choose between support and spear damage
With Nameless Sword, a simple purpose for the spear is to restore resources before returning to Sword Energy attacks. If you want the spear itself to do more of the fighting, first learn its successful-hit condition and the time commitment of the spin. Those are two legitimate uses of the same kit, but they lead to different button choices.
Our recommended exercise is to perform Legion Crusher on a stationary target, confirm Unrivaled, then begin Storm Dance. Repeat after intentionally missing the thrust. The comparison teaches the condition without pretending that every encounter allows a long stationary attack.
Position the spin before committing
Storm Dance operates around your character. Starting it while the enemy is moving away wastes the opening; following a long attack string into a dangerous area can be worse than ending the attack early. Wait for a recovery you recognise, approach, then commit only for as long as the next mechanic allows.
Its projectile protection while charging is specific. Do not treat it as immunity to floor hazards, every melee strike or every boss mechanic. The correct question is which attack is incoming, not whether the animation looks defensive.
Diagnose a weak sequence
| Problem | Useful check |
|---|---|
| Spin feels slow | Did Legion Crusher actually hit and establish Unrivaled? |
| Boss never freezes | Bosses use Qi Imbalance rather than ordinary immobilisation |
| Sword runs out of Endurance | Did you use the spear's support before spending another charge? |
| Damage stops during movement | Shorten the commitment and use a more reliable opening |
Avoid practising every Mystic Skill at once. Establish the spear sequence, add the weapon swap, then add one optional skill. This makes failures readable and stops a missed input from being mistaken for a weak loadout.
Upgrade with a purpose
If the spear is mainly supporting your sword, prioritise understanding its unlocked utility before spending specifically to optimise a long spear attack. If it is your main damage tool, evaluate the actions you actually land in the encounters you play. A practice target that never moves cannot tell you how often a boss will escape Storm Dance.
