The quick answer

Collect the three ghost-armour quest items in March of the Dead and return to Liu Changsheng for Trapped Beast. Its low-health shield is an emergency window with a long cooldown, not a repeatable full heal.

Complete Liu Changsheng’s collection

During March of the Dead in Kaifeng, collect Mountain Armor, Battle Helmet and Iron Spear. Return to Liu Changsheng and continue the required dialogue to receive Trapped Beast before the later Zhu Yousheng fight.

These are quest relics. Mountain Armor is not Mountain’s Might, the separate Inner Way collected in Palace of Annals. If you are following the wrong name, you can spend a long time in the wrong dungeon.

What the emergency trigger means

The passive grants Cornered Beast when taking damage under its low-health condition. That creates a temporary shield. It does not promise resurrection, immunity to an otherwise lethal hit or a refill every time your health becomes low.

The shield has a duration and a substantial trigger cooldown. After it saves one exchange, assume you still need an ordinary survival plan for the rest of the fight. Deliberately staying near defeat to trigger it again is not a dependable strategy.

Spend the window on recovery

An editorial response plan is to use the protection to reach safer ground or complete a needed heal. Continuing a long offensive combo may consume the brief opportunity without improving your survival.

Later tiers can strengthen shield capacity, improve healing while it is present and alter cooldown behaviour. Those changes are useful only if you act during the window. Compare your unlocked tier before expecting the medicine interaction or the later cooldown reduction.

Distinguish shield expiry from destruction

The later progression refers to what happens when the shield is destroyed before expiry. Those are different endings: a shield can run out of time without absorbing its full capacity. Read the relevant condition rather than assuming every activation receives the same follow-up.

Choose it for a specific problem

Trapped Beast can provide room to recover from an error. It should not be the reason you ignore a mechanic you repeatedly fail. If one attack always causes the emergency, learn that attack while the passive gives you breathing room. Once survival is consistent, reassess whether the slot still solves your most important problem.
