The quick answer
Open the law or accusation notice first and identify the actual state: a pending accusation, an active wanted status or imprisonment. A false accusation can involve Scholar assistance; an active violation can offer an atonement or payment route. In jail, use the prison’s available release tasks, payment or escape activity.

Read the notice before trying a fix
| State | Useful first action |
|---|---|
| Accusation awaiting a response | Open its notice and inspect the defence or Scholar-help option. |
| Wanted or active bounty | Read the violation and its resolution conditions. |
| Tracked atonement task | Follow the task’s entrance and objective, not only the map pin. |
| Imprisoned | Inspect the prison dialogue and available activities. |
These are different stages of the game’s law system. A tip about leaving jail will not necessarily dismiss an accusation, and clearing an accusation is not the same as completing an atonement quest. Keep the status panel open long enough to read what the game is asking you to resolve.
Respond to a false accusation through its notice
A false-accusation alert can appear near the top-left interface. Open it to inspect the case and request Scholar assistance where offered. The Scholar’s relevant mastery matters against the accusation’s score; simply inviting any character with the career may not be enough.
Check the response options and any quoted payment before accepting. If you ask another player to help, give them the accusation details and required score. That is more useful than a general request to “remove wanted” when the case has not reached that state.
Resolve the listed violation
Attacking civilians and other disruptive actions can lead to reports, guards and bounties. Once the notice is active, stop repeating the triggering action. Additional trouble makes it harder to tell whether the original resolution worked.
Follow the route your current notice provides: for example, a payment option at a bounty board or a Self-Repair atonement task. Do not assume every offence shares one fixed fine or waiting period. Read the cost and completion condition on your own case.
If an atonement marker sits below you, look for the entrance to the relevant interior or underground area. Standing on the surface directly above the pin does not put you next to the objective.
Use the options available inside jail
Prison can offer work tasks, payment and an escape route. Inspect the nearby NPC dialogue and activity prompts before spending money. The available route depends on your current prison situation; an online anecdote about a short sentence is not a universal release timer.
Prison Break is also listed through Wandering Paths → Adventure following the January interface update. Distinguish that activity entry from the specific notice controlling your current sentence. Start the option that actually addresses your objective, then check whether the status clears after completing it.
Confirm the case is finished
- Finish the required dialogue or reward confirmation after the task.
- Reopen the law notice and check whether it is cleared, changed or still active.
- If another case remains, read its details rather than repeating the completed task.
- Avoid testing the result by attacking another civilian.
Logging out, changing the in-game hour or travelling elsewhere should not be treated as a guaranteed removal method. If the task appears complete but the notice remains, record its wording and current objective before reporting a bug. Those details help separate an unfinished hand-in from a broken state.

Common questions
Can I skip a sentence by changing the world clock?
The world-clock menu changes in-game time; it is not a reliable way to clear law-system conditions or real-time restrictions.
Does any Scholar automatically clear an accusation?
No. Inspect the accusation and the required mastery or score, then use the offered assistance process.
