Relaying converts eligible gear into Relaid Gear while preserving specified attributes. You then improve that item through Modulating rather than ordinary Tuning or Retuning. Compare the before-and-after values and caps before converting a strong piece.

Understand the two operations

Start from the selected item’s Gear menu. Its eligibility and result preview matter more than the age or rarity of the item alone. If the conversion is unavailable, do not spend materials trying to reproduce a route written for a different tier.
Read the inheritance preview
The original April Tier 86-to-91 route retained set and attunement information as well as initial and tuned attribute types and values, while raising the destination’s potential limits. Those tier numbers describe that release’s route, not every later season.
A same-tier conversion can also discard values above the Relaid cap. Compare each important line before confirming; keeping an attribute’s name does not guarantee that an above-cap value survives.
Our recommendation is to write down the two or three lines that make the item valuable. Compare those lines in the preview first. If the result lowers the part you actually care about, a higher headline tier is not enough reason to proceed.
Choose one attribute to develop
Once the item is Relaid, select an attribute in Modulating and inspect the accepted material and projected increase. The system develops values toward fixed limits. It does not turn every unwanted attribute type into your preferred one.
Newer gear development adds Modulating Stones as a material route. Check the recycling or consumption preview of spare fully tuned Legendary gear before giving up a possible donor or an item used by another setup.
- Pick the attribute whose increase would help your current setup.
- Check its remaining distance to the cap.
- Inspect every proposed donor or material.
- Confirm one increase and review the new value.
- Stop investing in a capped line and reassess the remaining ones.
Compare a stable upgrade with a higher ceiling
A Relaid piece can preserve a useful setup while standard gear may offer a different maximum. Our suggested comparison is the result you can achieve with your actual materials today, followed by the cost of reaching the alternative. Do not compare a developed piece against an imaginary perfect drop as if both are already available.
This also means there is no universal instruction to relay every Legendary item. An excellent standard piece, a future donor and an Arsenal candidate can all have different uses.
Check the destination tier before storing old gear
Relaying that raises a piece’s tier can change its Arsenal eligibility. In the original Tier 86-to-91 route, the converted piece could no longer occupy the Tier 86 Arsenal. Check that consequence before converting an item currently filling an important old slot.

Does every value survive a same-tier conversion?
No. Values above the allowed Modulating cap can be removed. Inspect the before-and-after preview.
