The quick answer
Complete Jinming Pool: Petalfall Banquet and the Soaring Eagle Encounter. At Jinming Pool, speak to the fisherman Tang Ji’an, inspect the nearby locked chest and give him the Explosive Device Plans collected during Soaring Eagle.

The two prerequisite quests
All Beauty Fades follows Jinming Pool: Petalfall Banquet and Soaring Eagle. Visiting the chest immediately after the campaign does not mean you have already completed the full unlock chain. Soaring Eagle continues the wooden eagle story with Zhenzhen and includes the plans needed here.
Complete Tang Ji’an’s chest interaction
- Go to Jinming Pool and talk to Tang Ji’an, the fisherman associated with the locked chest.
- Interact with the chest beside him to establish what is blocking it.
- Return to Tang Ji’an’s dialogue and hand over the Explosive Device Plans.
- Finish the dialogue and collect the resulting quest rewards.
The item is sometimes the source of confusion because this story involves several designs. The Wooden Eagle Diagram belongs to Zhenzhen’s earlier request; the Explosive Device Plans come from the underground room you investigate later in Soaring Eagle.
If you do not have the Explosive Device Plans
Check the quest-item inventory before retracing the route. If the plans are absent, return to the hidden chamber reached through the stone shrine during Soaring Eagle and inspect the room where the letters were found. Advance any remaining Soaring Eagle objectives, including its final pond meeting.
| Situation | Useful check |
|---|---|
| Only Jinming Pool is complete | Finish Soaring Eagle before returning. |
| You have a wooden eagle or its diagram | Look for the separate Explosive Device Plans item. |
| The plans are owned but no handover appears | Inspect the nearby chest and revisit Tang Ji’an’s quest dialogue. |
This is an item-and-conversation handover. Do not assume the chest requires a generic key or an unrelated combat unlock simply because it has remained locked since your first visit.
