The quick answer
Star Shift is the Assist Deflection feature, available from the opening tutorials rather than a hidden chest. Check Options → Game → Assist Deflection. It uses Insight for assisted deflections; the setting and your difficulty rules determine availability. Wine Jujube belongs to its upgrade screen under the General Mystic Skills.

Star Shift is the assistance setting
Open Options, choose the Game tab and find Assist Deflection. This controls the assistance associated with Star Shift. If you are searching the map for a Star Shift master, you are looking in the wrong place: it is introduced with the game’s initial combat systems.
Older item descriptions may call it Grand Evasion. That name refers to this system rather than a second combat skill to unlock. Keep it separate from Divine Counter and from manually pressing your ordinary deflection input.
Insight limits the assistance
Star Shift consumes Insight when its assisted deflection triggers. Treat the resource as a limited allowance, not as a guarantee that every attack will be neutralised throughout a fight.
Our suggested practice is to watch the Insight display while fighting a familiar ordinary enemy. Notice when assistance triggers and what happens after you spend the available points. That makes it easier to distinguish the help you received from a deflection you timed yourself.
Do not use the assistance as a reason to ignore a new attack’s cue. A skill description about deflection does not mean every unblockable move, grab or area hazard is handled for you.
Where Wine Jujube is used
- Open Develop → Abilities → Mystic Skills.
- Switch to the General group and select Star Shift.
- Inspect the upgrade requirement and the current Insight-related effect.
- If Wine Jujube is listed, obtain it through the relevant Oddity collection rewards.
- Confirm the displayed requirement before spending it.
Wine Jujube is easy to mistake for a consumable to eat from the ordinary Bag list. The useful destination is Star Shift’s development screen. Do not spend unrelated Ebon Iron simply because you associate it with offensive Mystic Skill upgrades.
Check difficulty before treating the setting as broken
Legend’s combat restrictions include the absence of ordinary deflection assistance. Check your difficulty rules if the option is unavailable or behaves differently from a beginner’s demonstration.
Before changing difficulty, read the current confirmation screen. Legend has commitment rules, so a difficulty change is not a harmless diagnostic toggle. You can still practise manual timing without altering the setting.
| Symptom | Most useful check |
|---|---|
| Cannot find an unlock chest | Use the Assist Deflection setting instead. |
| Help stops during a fight | Inspect remaining Insight. |
| Wine Jujube seems unusable | Open Star Shift in General Mystic Skills. |
| Assistance unavailable | Read your difficulty restrictions. |

Common questions
Is Grand Evasion a different skill from Star Shift?
In the Wine Jujube context, it is an alternate name for the Star Shift assistance system. Check the General Mystic Skills menu.
Does Star Shift replace manual deflection?
No. It supplies limited assistance through Insight. Manual timing remains a separate combat skill and is essential when assistance is unavailable.
