The quick answer
Riddles use a text chat: read the short clue, ask a useful question or type a concise answer, and watch the remaining attempts. The same short clue can point to more than one thing, so treat answer lists as candidates.

Find the riddle interaction
Look for Riddle NPCs in the map’s exploration activities. Wang Xiaosan at the Fairgrounds is one starting option in Kaifeng. Speak with the NPC and check the displayed Intelligence requirement and Commerce Coin entry cost before beginning.
This is a word-guessing conversation. Gift of Gab is a different debate system; increasing a debate hand’s strength does not answer a riddle for you.
Twenty clues to try
Match the wording of your clue, then type the answer on its own. Where two candidates are listed, use the NPC’s follow-up information to choose rather than spending attempts blindly.

Use each question to remove a category
Our suggested first question for a vague clue is whether the answer is living or manufactured. Then ask about its use or habitat. For example, a clue about a sound can lead toward an animal call, a musical instrument or an object moved by wind.
Ask one clear question at a time and read the response before sending the next. Several unrelated guesses in one message make it harder to tell which idea the NPC accepted or rejected.
If a listed answer is rejected
- Recheck the exact clue and the most recent reply.
- Try the specific object name rather than a long explanation.
- Use a remaining question to distinguish a plausible alternative.
- Watch the attempt or time limit; finish the round before paying to begin another.
The result screen is the reliable completion signal. A friendly chat response by itself does not establish that the riddle was solved. Do not assume a repeated clue must use the same answer every time.
Check what changed after the round
Collect the result and inspect the activity or exploration entry you were working on. Before replaying for rewards, read the current eligibility and entry fee. Our recommendation is to solve a nearby riddle when exploring, then move on once the intended objective is complete.
