The quick answer

Fight the God of Avarice during Chapter 2’s Furnace of Righteousness story. Survive the sword phases, break the protective Money Bar, then use your bow on the glowing eye in his giant staff. In the final phase, ordinary melee damage is not the solution.

Where to find the God of Avarice

Progress Chapter 2: Universal Furnace into the Furnace of Righteousness sequence. Hallway Prayers leads through the chanting hallway to the heavy gate and boss encounter. Completing this story fight opens the repeatable Furnace of Righteousness Campaign.

Prepare your healing supplies and know how to aim your bow before opening the gate. The closing phase tests a different interaction from your normal weapon rotation; changing your entire build will not solve a missed weak point.

Fiery paired weaponsExpect a quicker sequence after the transition; shorten your own attack commitments.
Money protection over the health barContinue landing safe hits to remove the protective bar while respecting his resistance to stagger.

A useful practice plan is to make your first attempt about recognising transitions. Save one healing opportunity for a completed enemy sequence instead of trying to drink while the next swing is already arriving. This is a learning priority, not a required damage rotation.

Why the final phase takes no melee damage

The giant form presents an eye on its staff. When that weak point lights up, aim your bow and shoot it. Successful hits reduce the Money Bar that controls this stage. Between openings, dodge the summoned attackers and staff projectiles; gold attacks need evasion.

  1. Keep enough distance to see the staff and its glowing target.
  2. Watch for the eye to become vulnerable, then shoot the eye rather than the boss’s body.
  3. Resume movement immediately after the shot.
  4. Repeat through the remaining Money Bar and allow the story sequence to continue.

If you are dealing no visible damage, check what you are targeting before assuming a bug. A hit on the body and a hit on the active eye are different actions. Do not spend the whole opening running back into melee range.

Troubleshoot the failed phase

  • Dying before the giant form: identify the sword or projectile sequence causing the loss and reduce your punish window.
  • Reaching the giant form but making no progress: check the eye’s active glow, aim, and Money Bar.
  • Getting hit while aiming: wait for the telegraphed opening instead of holding aim continuously.
  • Trying to interrupt every attack: the Money protection can prevent stagger; defend even when your own strike connects.

Common questions

Why can I not damage the God of Avarice in phase three?

His giant form uses a weak-point mechanic. Shoot the glowing eye on the staff with your bow to reduce its Money Bar; normal melee attacks on the body do not resolve this phase.

Where does the God of Avarice campaign unlock?

Complete the Chapter 2 Furnace story encounter reached through Hallway Prayers. The repeatable Furnace of Righteousness Campaign becomes available afterward.
